In light of all the economic twists and turns... i hope you are all hangin in there.. keeping your hope and fire in tact..
We received the BCA Cultural Grant to complete and screen All The LAdies Say documentary...and we got to work immediately!! The new trailer has been created by Melissa Ulto and Rokafella with music by Kwikstep and Handstyles by Toofly. Kwikstep returned from a successful run of "What You Will" a shakespeare version of Twelth Night with a hip-hop edge to it which played in Bristol Riverside Theater. Congrats to Kwikstep for a mention in the Pennsylvania Chronicle review.
A sreening of the documentary in Bushwick was cozy and fun with BEATSREET playing right after. Thank you to Jane Gabriels for hooking it up.
Full Circle performed at the Bardavon and at Collegiate school for black history month with bboy Character and bboy Shea on the roster.
Kicking off Women's History Month, Rokafella performed at Momma's Hip-hop Kitchen and featured G I Jane and J La Rok. Shout to B boy Shea and Merk and Break for showing love.. Big shout to Lah Tere, La Bruja and all the female firestorms who graced the stage that day and to Kathleen Adams who organized the concert. Stay tuned for dates and info as we will be screening excerpts of the film in Harlem at Maysles Cinema before the launch.
Please mark your calendars for JUNE 3RD 2009.. 4pm at the Bronx Museum we will be launching the documentary with the main characters present to teach, dance, discuss, and defy society!!! Full Circle will perform at Lincoln Center in August. Kwikstep and Rokafella will make up part of the cast of the highly anticipated play "Boogie Rican Blvd" more info to follow.
CONGRATS to BABA ISRAEL-our beatboxer MC musician extraordinaire who just acquired a directorial position at England's Contact Theater in MAnchester!! he is one of the original members of Full Circle a recipient of our On Fire Award in 2006.
